Controversy Over Elle's Cover!!

Elle celebrated their 25th anniversary edition this week. the magazine chose to celebrates 25 women in their 20s who they believe are going to be big stars. the four lucky women that were chosen to have their on covers in were Megan Fox, Lauren Conrad, Amanda Seyfried and Gabourey Sidibe.

I personally love the women that they picked but somehow there was controversy over one particular cover, that was Gabourey Sidibe. the young actress that played the emotional role of the success film Precious. The big deal is that it seems as though Gabourey skin may appear lighter on the cover.

Robbie Myers, the editor-in-chief at Elle explains "At a photo shoot, in a studio, that is a
fashion shoot, that's glamorous, the lighting is different. The photography is different than a red carpet shot from a paparazzi. We absolutely did not lighten her skin. Retouching is when we take a piece of hair and move it out of her eye, so you can't compare a picture on a press line from what you do in a studio, where your job is to make them look beautiful. This is their controversy. We've seen these things before. I am sad that no one has cracked the magazine and looked at it. We gave her a cover, and she loved it."
